Job Purpose: The Marketing and Communications team is responsible for developing the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s (PSO) audiences through targeted campaigns, outstanding online content, PR opportunities, brand development, and online community management. The Email Marketing Manager will oversee the PSO’s email campaign planning and execution including designing, testing, and analyzing campaigns to measure and report on effectiveness. The person stepping into this role will have an eye for graphic design, experience with content strategy, and technical email development skills. Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing, the Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing outbound email campaigns. This position also will use analytical tools to drive performance improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Develop and execute all aspects of email campaigns including messages, automations, list management, and targeting audiences to maximize impact.
- Identify, implement, and manage solutions for curating meaningful touchpoints and re-engagement opportunities with customers.
- Collaborate with teams and key stakeholders across PSO to develop an email communications calendar that creatively showcases our events, musicians, and key institutional messages.
- Develop effective content marketing strategies to increase PSO’s subscriber list.
- Manage email lists by segmenting, tagging, and defining appropriate audiences for targeted messages.
- Work closely with the Digital Engagement Manager to evaluate and optimize customers’ journeys between email and other digital channels.
- Test, measure, analyze, and optimize the performance of email campaigns.
- Seek out and manage opportunities for PSO to improve email marketing efforts, including but not limited to A/B testing and implementing automations.
- Develop metrics to make data-informed recommendations to drive continuous improvement of email marketing strategies.
- Coordinate with team members to integrate email campaigns with web experience, social media strategy, use of multimedia technologies, and other digital outreach while incorporating email initiatives into overall marketing strategies.
- Work closely with other members of the marketing team to ensure that email campaigns are tracked, analyzed, and that customer data is managed and used appropriately.
- Work closely with the Digital Engagement Manager and Director of Marketing to develop new strategies.
- Identify and implement emerging trends in email marketing.
- Assist with other digital marketing needs as needed such as website updates and digital app management.
Required Education and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, communications, advertising, or related field, or equivalent certifications and experience.
- Minimum two years of experience in the digital marketing space.
- Experience with Prospect 2 or other email marketing platforms.
- Solid understanding of CRM systems.
- Demonstrable experience managing email lists and tags.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design and multimedia editing tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with proficiency at tailoring marketing communications.
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills with the ability to communicate well and frequently with colleagues.
- Ability to identify opportunities and proactively improve practices.
- A clear, analytical, and flexible approach to problem solving.
- Attention to detail, organized, and able to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Education and Experience: - Understanding of technical aspects of email marketing, such as automation, UX, and A/B testing.
- An understanding of end-to-end customer journeys and delivering excellent and engaging user experiences.
- Experience working with ticketed arts and entertainment venues with online ticketing needs a plus.
- Understanding of AI-driven marketing tools.
Compensation and Location: This is a full-time position with an annual salary range between $50,000 - $58,000 depending upon experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes paid holidays, paid time off, employer paid health benefits, as well as retirement savings options with an employer match. Heinz Hall in downtown Pittsburgh is the work location for this position. The PSO supports a flexible, hybrid work environment, which currently includes three days per week in-person work.
